I'm finally doing something I love, living in the moment and making couples happy. I’m married with two children and two dogs. I like to read, garden, hike, ski and fix stuff by watching youtube videos. I'm taking a degree in Art History and English.
I provide custom, non religious ceremonies that reflect your personal style and love story. We work together to create your wedding memory. Most backyard couples like to keep it simple and honest. Not too much from me and just the right amount from you. Don't worry if you've no idea what you want - that's why I"m here!
Pets are especially welcome at my backyard ceremonies!
Over the last two years all my weddings ended up outdoors. I loved it! If I could do my own wedding over again I would have it in my backyard. They are low stress, high happiness and so creative and funky. Officiating at backyard weddings sometimes means going with the flow, and other times you need someone to take charge a bit. I'm good

We loved our backyard wedding - intimate, beautiful, and Clare's officiating created the perfect balance of solemnity and joy.
Our plans kept changing and we ended up having our ceremony in a friend's backyard forest. Clare was so flexible and supportive. Our dog loved her too!
Our backyard wedding was exactly what we wanted. Clare made us feel so calm and happy. She wrote a beautiful ceremony for us.
If you want me to officiate at your backyard wedding just get in touch with me. We'll chat, get to know each other a bit and see if we're a match. To confirm a date you send me a 50% deposit, with the balance due after the wedding. My fee is $440 +hst. You have to fill out a tiny bit of paperwork, and we can get started on your ceremony whenever you want. Sometimes this is waaaay ahead of the day, but mostly just a few weeks is enough.
You can get one from any municipality in Ontario for use anywhere in the province. The fee can be paid by cash, money order, certified cheque, or credit card. It’s valid for 3 months and there is no waiting period – you can get married right away if you want. Either or both of the people to be married can get the license, just bring your ID. There are no citizenship or residency requirements. I can't marry you without a license. Everything you need to know about marriage paperwork in Ontario
At the end of the ceremony, you and your witnesses will sign the license and Marriage Register. I'll give you a ceremonial Record of Ceremony and within 48 hours I'll mail (yes MAIL!!) your license so your marriage will be legally registered. After 10-12 weeks you can apply for a Certificate of Marriage Registration from the Registrar General. But you only need to do this if you want to change your name or need it for immigration purposes. There is currently a huge backlog at the Registrar General so if you apply for your certificate online and are told your marriage is not registered don’t panic! It can take longer than 12 weeks to get weddings registered. There is a process to expedite this if you really need it.
I asked myself that same question. Turns out I’ve been a Humanist all along. Maybe you are too, so if you are interested here is some more information. Humanism is a non-religious ethical philosophy, a way of life and a way of thinking, that involves adherence to strong ethics, an emphasis on human rights, and respect for the Earth and its creatures. A Humanist works toward creating a more humane and responsible world, with a commitment to reason and compassion.
Anything relating to misconduct, incompetence or incapacity as set out in the Ontario Humanist Society Ethical Principles and Humanist Officiant Profile may be directed to the Chair, Ceremonies Committee, ethicalconcerns@ontariohumanists.ca But I would like to say this has NEVER happened!
